Venus.” This piece was inspired by “Venus” a song by Lady Gaga and my representation of a ‘black alien’. I think of myself as an ‘alternative black girl’. In a society where many think all black people are monolithic, especially black women. This piece rests on a a acrylic poured canvas with glitter. The alien was made with drawing paper and adhered to the canvas. Plastic rhinestones adorn her hair. The alien is sealed with clear resin.
