Black Siren reimagines the mythological siren through a Black feminist lens. Rather than portraying the siren as a dangerous seductress, the figure becomes a symbol of intuition, transformation, and connection to ancestral knowledge.
Surrounded by water, sky, and natural elements, the figure emerges as both protector and storyteller. Fragments of text and landscape imagery suggest memories, dreams, and histories that are carried across generations. The work explores the relationship between Black women and the natural world while challenging traditional representations that have historically excluded them.
Mixed-media collage and drawing on paper.
Part of the artist's ongoing series examining Black femininity, mythology, and imagined worlds.
