ABOUT MY PRACTICE
Rajine Williams is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and curator based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Working across painting, collage, sculpture, installation, drawing, and mixed media, her practice explores Black identity, femininity, chronic illness, resilience, and self-definition through an unapologetically personal lens. Since 2019, Williams has developed a visual language rooted in experimentation, storytelling, and cultural memory, creating work that blurs the boundaries between fine art, lived experience, and social commentary.
Williams coined the term Afrocentric Eclectic to describe her artistic practice—a framework that embraces contradiction, multiplicity, and cultural pride. Through bold color palettes, layered surfaces, found materials, and expressive portraiture, she constructs worlds where Black women and femmes are centered not as symbols, but as fully realized individuals navigating joy, grief, healing, rage, beauty, and transformation.
Her work often incorporates recycled and repurposed materials, elevating everyday objects into visual archives that speak to memory, survival, and reclamation. Through large-scale mixed-media works, intimate portraits, sculptural assemblages, and experimental collage, Williams examines the intersections of race, gender, disability, and belonging while challenging viewers to reconsider whose stories are preserved, celebrated, and remembered.
Since emerging professionally, Williams has exhibited throughout Minnesota, participating in exhibitions including Half Sky | Half Bone (2019), Foot in the Door 5 (2020), SPNN Shorts Spotlight (2020), Science Museum of Minnesota Mini Grant Exhibition (2021), Honoring Our Roots (2021), Posters for Parks (2021), Paradox (2021), Resilience in Action (2022), Feminist Art Night (2022), Moxie Awards Silent Auction (2022), Hennepin County Solo Art Exhibition, WBCA Artist Showcase (2023), Rosalux Gallery (2023), The Dream Initiative Exhibition (2023), and the Afrocentric/Eclectic Exhibition, a curatorial project she founded to celebrate Black artistic expression and community.
Growing up in predominantly white environments profoundly shaped Williams' understanding of visibility, identity, and self-expression. These experiences continue to inform both her studio practice and her work as an educator. She is committed to creating spaces where BIPOC youth can explore creativity without limitation, developing artistic confidence in environments that affirm their lived experiences and cultural narratives.
Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in K–12 Visual Arts Education fromAugsburg University. As both an artist and educator, she views artmaking as a tool for empowerment, reflection, and community-building.
Through her work, Williams invites viewers into spaces where Blackness is expansive, vulnerability is powerful, and creativity becomes an act of resistance, healing, and liberation.
Partnerships x RTQ
Art has always been more than a finished object to me—it is a tool for connection, self-discovery, storytelling, and community. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of partnering with museums, schools, universities, nonprofits, wellness organizations, community centers, and independent creative spaces across the Twin Cities to create accessible and meaningful art experiences for people of all ages.
As both a professional artist and licensed K–12 visual arts educator, I design workshops that encourage participants to explore creativity without fear of perfection. My teaching practice is rooted in experimentation, cultural exploration, mindfulness, and personal expression, creating opportunities for participants to engage with art as both a creative and reflective process.
Over the years, I have facilitated programming for organizations including the Walker Art Center, the University of Minnesota, Women’s Business Center Alliance (WBCA), Mind the Crown, Metro Art Force, Courageous HeARTS, OSKMN, ESAC, Kiwi Collaborative, and numerous community-based initiatives throughout Minnesota.
My workshops range from traditional visual arts instruction to immersive creative experiences that combine artmaking with wellness, music, identity exploration, and community dialogue. Signature programs such as Something You Can Feel invite participants to create blindfolded while responding to music, encouraging intuition, mindfulness, and sensory awareness. This program has been presented at the Walker Art Center’s Free First Saturday programming, University of Minnesota Juneteenth celebrations, and private wellness-centered events.
Whether facilitating a museum workshop for over 150 visitors, leading community-based artmaking during cultural celebrations, hosting creative wellness experiences for women, or teaching visual arts in schools, my goal remains the same: to create spaces where people feel empowered to take risks, tell their stories, and discover the transformative power of creativity.
Through every partnership, I strive to make art accessible, engaging, and affirming—building experiences that honor diverse voices while reminding participants that creativity belongs to everyone.

🎨 Art Consignment with Rajine the Queen Artistry
Bring Original Artwork Into Your Space
Rajine the Queen Artistry offers a community-centered art consignment program for local businesses, organizations, and creative spaces interested in showcasing original artwork by Twin Cities–based multimedia artist Rajine Williams.
Through this program, you can display vibrant, Afrocentric, Eclectic artwork in your space at no cost upfront. It’s a partnership built on visibility, connection, and shared value — you enhance your environment, and my artwork reaches new audiences.
🤝 How It Works
Display Period: Artwork is placed on display for an agreed-upon period (typically 3–6 months).
Ownership: All artwork remains the property of Rajine the Queen Artistry until sold.
Sales: If a piece sells, the business or host site receives a commission percentage as outlined in our signed agreement.
No Cost to You: There is no fee to display artwork. Both parties benefit only if a piece sells.
Insurance: The host agrees to take reasonable care of the artwork while it is on site. If the space carries insurance that covers art or displays, the work should be included under that policy during the display period.
Display Responsibilities: The business agrees to provide suitable wall or display space and maintain the artwork in a clean, visible area.
Artist Responsibilities: I will deliver, install, and label all artwork, provide digital marketing materials, and remove or rotate works at the end of the term.
💰 Sales & Commissions
When a piece sells through your business or organization:
Payment for the artwork is processed directly through Rajine the Queen Artistry.
The host receives a commission (usually between 20–30%) based on the sale amount.
Once payment clears, the commission is sent to the host within 14 days.
If a customer expresses interest in a piece, simply direct them to me or provide my contact information — I’ll handle the transaction from there.
🖼️ Benefits of Hosting Artwork
Beautify your space with professional, culturally rich artwork.
